N をあげます/N をくれます/N をもらいます

Giving and receiving things

あげる: I/you give to someone else. くれる: someone gives to me/us. もらう: I receive from someone. Honorific: くださいます (they give to me). Humble: いただきます (I receive).

田た中なかさんが私わたしに皿さらをくれました。

社しゃ長ちょうが私わたしにお土み産やげをくださいました。

母はは、サルにお菓か子こをあげてもいいですか。

Answers

Use やります for giving to children, animals, or plants - more neutral than あげます.

……だめよ。あれは「サルに食たべ物ものをやってはいけません」よ。

～てあげます/～てもらいます/～てくれます

Giving and receiving actions

て-form + あげる/もらう/くれる for favors: 部ぶ長ちょうが報ほう告こく書しょを直なおしてくれました. Direction matches the thing-giving verbs.

課か長ちょうが車くるまを直なおしてくれました。

妻つまが茶さ道どうを教おしえてくれました。

息むす子こに紙かみの飛ひ行い機きを作つくってあげました。

Honorific favors (てください)

てください is honorific "do for me": 新あたらしいコピー機きの使つかい方かたを教おしえてください. Softer request: 教おしえていただけませんか (Lesson 26).

Doing something as a gift (に...てあげる)

に before てあげる can mark doing something as a gift or memorial: 結けっ婚こんのお祝いわいに皿さらをあげます, 北ほっ海うみ道どう旅りょ行いのお土み産やげに人にん形ぎょうを買かいました.

田た中なかさんが結けっ婚こんのお祝いわいにこの皿さらをくださいました。
