When and if

V-たら
Conditional たら
V-たら marks a condition for what follows: 春が来たら桜が咲きます. It can also express the speaker's judgment in a situation: 財布がないなら、カードで払ってください.
天気がいい日に行ったら、向こうに島が見えます。
ボタンをクリックしたら、ドアが開きます。
北海道へ行くなら、6月がいいですよ。
Answers
When the condition clause and main clause have different subjects, expressions of will or command are allowed: 田中さんが来たら、会いに行きます.
レポートは明日までに出さなければなりませんか。

How should I...? (question word + たら)
Ask how to do something: 本を借りたいんですが、どうすればいいですか. Same pattern as ～たらいいですか from Lesson 26, but with a question word.
温泉に行きたいんですが、どこへ行ったらいいですか。

Topic with は (N は N)
N1 は N2 gives information about a topic already raised: ビールはドイツの歴史が長いです. Compare 温泉は白馬がいいですよ (about hot springs, Hakuba is good).

Negative question (～ないか)
A negative question invites agreement or lets the listener say no easily: ほかに意見がないか. More polite than a plain yes/no question when asking for opinions.
