N の／V-たとおりに V
Doing as indicated (〜とおりに)
N の or V-た + とおりに means doing V exactly as shown or as N indicates: 説明書のとおりに、組み立てます. とおり is a noun and can combine with この/その/あの.
線のとおりに、紙を切ってください。
私がやったとおりに、やってください。
説明書のとおりに、家具を組み立てました。
このとおりに、書いてください。
N の／V-たあとで V
After something (〜あとで)
V-た or N の + あとで shows V2 happens after V1 or N. Unlike 〜てから, it only marks order - not that the first action is a necessary preparation.
仕事のあとで、飲みに行きませんか。
食事のあとで、歯を磨きます。
新しいのを買ったあとで、なくした時計が見つかりました。
しょうゆは砂糖を入れたあとで、入れるんですよ。
V-て ＋ V
Accompanying action (V-て + V)
V1-て V2 shows V2 done with V1 as an accompanying action or state. The subject of both verbs is the same: しょうゆをつけて食べます.
しょうゆをつけて食べます。
砂糖を入れて飲みます。
シートベルトをして運転します。
V-ないで ＋ V
Without doing (V-ないで + V)
V-ないで V2 means doing V2 without V1, or choosing V2 instead of V1 when both cannot happen at once: どこも行かないで、うちで休みます.
しょうゆをつけないで食べます。
砂糖を入れないで飲みます。
日曜日はどこも行かないで、うちでゆっくり休みます。
最近エレベーターに乗らないで、階段を使っています。
